MEMORANDUM

OF UNDERSTANDING ON POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS BETWEEN THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA AND THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND REGIONAL INTEGRATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Republic of Ghana, hereinafter referred to as the “Parties”,

Expressing their desire to further strengthen the existing bilateral relations and cooperation through establishing mechanism for political consultations,

Recognizing the importance of coordinating the bilateral matters and international issues of common interest between the states,

Reconfirming the adherence of the obligations and principles under international law and the common objective to promote respect for the rule of law in international relations,

Have agreed, as follows:

Article 1

The parties shall hold consultations on bilateral issues and exchange views on international matters of common interest on regular basis. The consultations may in particular relate, but are not limited to, political, economic, cultural, and scientific issues.

Article 2

The consultations referred to in Article 1 shall be alternatively held in Belgrade and Accra. They may also take place in the framework of international conferences and meetings, including the United Nations General Assembly.

Article 3

By prior mutual consent of the Parties, consultative meetings shall be held at ministerial level or at the level of State Secretaries, Undersecretaries, Deputy State Secretaries, Directors of Departments or Ambassadors.

Article 4

The Parties shall prepare and approve the dates, place and agenda in advance of the consultations through diplomatic channels.

Article 5

Any dispute arising between the Parties regarding the interpretation or implementation of this MOU shall be settled amicably through consultations and negotiations.

Article 6

This MOU or any of its provisions may be amended at any time by mutual consent of the Parties in writing through diplomatic channels.

Article 7

The substance and result of the consultations shall not be published, unless the Parties mutually agree to publish or disseminate public information following the consultations.

Article 8

This Memorandum of Understanding shall enter into force on the day it is signed, and shall remain effective for a period of two years. Following these two years it shall be automatically renewed for the same and subsequent period, unless either Party notifies the other, through the diplomatic channels, of its intention to terminate it. The termination shall take effect three months after the date on which the notification has been given.
