MEMORANDUM
OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEENTHE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA AND THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF GUATEMALA ABOUT THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE MECHANISM OF POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Guatemala, hereinafter referred to as "the Parties".

With the purpose of strengthening the bilateral relations, friendship and cooperation ties between both countries on the basis of equal and mutual benefit;

Convinced of the importance of establishing a practical and effective mechanism of political consultations between both Parties.

Have agreed as follows:

ARTICLE 1

The purpose of the Mechanism of Political Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Parties is to promote consultations on issues that are incumbent to the bilateral relation and other issues of international nature of common interest.

ARTICLE 2

The Parties, whenever they consider it necessary and at the level agreed, shall meet in order to perform their respective consultations.

The place, schedule and agenda of the meetings of consultations shall be established by mutual agreement through the diplomatic channels.

ARTICLE 3

In the held meetings, the Parties may, by mutual agreement, establish work groups or include specialists they deem necessary, according to the nature of the issues to be discussed.

ARTICLE 4

The present Memorandum of Understanding shall complement the communication channels already existing between the Parties and shall strengthen the dialogue established through diplomatic channels.

ARTICLE 5

In the International field, the Parties shall hold meetings of consultations on International Issues, in order to mutually promote a greater political, economic, cultural and informative presence of each Party in the International forums in which they participate.

ARTICLE 6

In case of need and/or extraordinary circumstances, the Parties shall hold special meetings of consultations. The level, place and schedule, as well as the agenda shall be agreed in an additional way and through diplomatic channels.

ARTICLE 7

The present Memorandum of Understanding shall enter into force from the date of its signature and shall have an unlimited duration.

A Party may at any time from the entry into force of this Memorandum of Understanding, give notice in writing through diplomatic channels to the other Party of its decision to terminate this Memorandum of Understanding with six months of anticipation.

ARTICLE 8

The present Memorandum of Understanding may be modified by mutual agreement of the Parties, formalized by written communications through diplomatic channels, specifying the date of entry into force of the modifications.

In whitness whereof, the undersigned, being duly authorised by their respective Governments, have signed this Memorandum of Understanding.

Done in Belgrade, on day 6th of September, 2019, in two original copies, each in the Serbian, Spanish and English language, and all texts being equally authentic. In case of divergence regarding interpretation, the English text shall prevail.
