MEMORANDUM
OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE MINISTRY OF YOUTH AND SPORTS OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA AND THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, SCIENCE, RESEARCH AND SPORT OF THE SLOVAK REPUBLIC ON COOPERATION IN THE FIELDS OF YOUTH AND SPORTS

Through the present Memorandum, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic (hereinafter referred to as "Participants"),

Willing to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation in the fields of youth and sports,

In order to strengthen and develop friendly relations through sports and youth with adherence to the national legislations of both countries,

In accordance with the Co-operation Agreement in the Area of Education, Culture and Sport between the Government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the Government of Slovak Republic, signed in Belgrade on 30 January 1996,

Have agreed as follows:

Article 1

The Participants will cooperate in the fields of youth and sports within the framework of their respective powers and competence, by fostering as a priority the exchange of expertise in:

a) Institutional cooperation.

b) The field of science and technology applied to sports.

c) Sports medicine.

d) The fight against negative phenomena in sports.

e) The organization of sports events.

f) The further training of sports professionals and experts in sports.

g) Programs for the support and encouragement of sports for disabled.

h) The protection of young practitioners of sports.

i) The field of the women and sports.

j) Sports infrastructure.

k) Sports and youth tourism.

l) Youth policy, projects and programs.

Article 2

In this spirit of cooperation, the Participants hereby agree:

a) To collect information and exchange points of view in the fields of youth and sports through consultations on questions of mutual interest.

b) To exchange experience in legal regulations in the fields of youth and sports and good practice examples.

c) To provide information on the experience obtained in planning, construction, maintenance and use of large sports complexes.

d) To exchange information related to issues in the areas of youth and sports of common interests.

e) To provide information on seminars, conferences and other meetings in youth and sports that may be held in each country.

f) To support the interchange of activities through the various national sports associations and sport organizations and youth organizations.

g) To exchange experience and knowledge in the field of fighting against negative phenomena in sports and good practice examples (education and prevention programs).

h) To encourage the exchange and cooperation between sports experts in sports in the field of sports for all, sports medicine and physical culture, as well as the exchange of experts in the field of youth proposed by the Participants.

Article 3

In order to implement this Memorandum, Participants shall encourage holding of meetings of representatives, exchange of letters, or other instruments of cooperation.

Participants shall strive to exchange visits in order to strengthen cooperation in the field of sports and youth by linking the representatives of national institutions from two countries to be present at meetings and competitions organized by the Participants with the aim to exchange experience in the field of sports and youth and to enhance development of the sector for sports in two countries.

Article 4

All the activities under this Memorandum will be subject to the availability of budget resources of Participants pursuant the national laws of Participants.

Article 5

The Memorandum may be amended by mutual agreement of the Participants stated in the specific Annexes, which would become the integral part of this Memorandum. Such amendment will enter into operation upon its signature.

Article 6

This Memorandum will not affect any other agreements or arrangements concluded between Participants.

Article 7

This Memorandum will enter into force from the day of its signing. It will remain into force for a period of four (4) years and will thereafter, automatically be renewed for a further four (4) years period.

Each Participants may terminate this Memorandum at any time by providing written notice of its intention to terminate to the other Participant Party six (6) months in advance.

In witness whereofF, the undersigned, being duly authorized by their respective governments, have signed this Memorandum in two original copies, in the Serbian, Slovak and English language all texts being equally authentic. In case of any inconsistency, the English version shall prevail.
