MEMORANDUM
OF UNDERSTANDING ON COOPERATION BETWEEN THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA AND THE FEDERAL PUBLIC SERVICE FOREIGN AFFAIRS, FOREIGN TRADE AND DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION OF THE KINGDOM OF BELGIUM

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Federal Public Service Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Kingdom of Belgium (hereinafter referred to as "the Participants"),

Considering the high level of political, economic and cultural relations, and realizing that stronger bilateral cooperation will contribute to the friendly relations between the citizens of Serbia and Belgium,

Considering Serbia's strategic orientation towards the EU and its reform efforts aiming at effectively pursuing its European agenda, and Belgium's strategic interest in supporting the European integration of Serbia and enhancing the level of cooperation,

Aiming at further developing bilateral relations and continually strengthening direct contacts at the expert level of the Participants,

Have entered into the following Memorandum of Understanding (hereinafter "MoU"):

Paragraph 1

1. The Participants will further enhance their mutual cooperation and information exchange through the establishment of regular political consultations in the field of bilateral relations, the European integration process, regional and international issues and security policies, at the level of senior officials.

These consultations will in principle be organized on a yearly basis alternatively in Brussels and Belgrade, or in the margins of international conferences.

2. The Participants will stimulate regular contacts on all levels, both political and administrative, to discuss bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest.

3. The Permanent Missions to international organizations of both Participants will maintain contact and consult each other on issues of mutual interest, as required.

Paragraph 2

To the extent possible the Participants will endeavor to support each other candidatures and candidates to international organizations.

Paragraph 3

The Participants will strengthen cooperation in the field of economic diplomacy through the exchange of experience, expertise and know-how.

Paragraph 4

The Participants will examine ways to establish cooperation in the field of diplomatic education and training through study visits and the organization of joint training programs.

Paragraph 5

The expenses arising from the implementation of this MoU will be covered by the Participants according to the budget resources.

Paragraph 6

The present MoU does not entail binding legal obligations between the Participants. Any dispute or divergence of opinion regarding its application will be resolved amicably by the Participants through direct consultations.

Paragraph 7

This MoU takes effect on the date of signature. It will remain valid for an indefinite period, unless terminated by either Participant by notification through diplomatic channels. The termination will take effect 3 months following the date of receipt of the notification.

Signed in Brussels on 16 September 2021, in two originals in the English language, both texts being equally valid.
