MEMORANDUM
OF UNDERSTANDING ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A MECHANISM OF POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS BETWEEN THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA AND THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND COOPERATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF EQUATORIAL GUINEA

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, hereinafter: "the Parties";

Desirous to contribute to the development of friendly relations and mutual understanding between the two countries,

Reiterating their commitment to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations and to the generally accepted principles of international law,

Reaffirming their intention to develop a dialogue on issues related to bilateral cooperation and other matters of regional and international character of mutual interest,

Recognizing the importance of continuous cooperation between the two Ministries and dialogue at different levels,

Have agreed as follows:

Article 1

The Parties will hold regular consultations with the aim of considering all aspects of their bilateral relations and exchanging views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, as well as on developments on the regional and international scene.

Article 2

The consultations on bilateral relations will include all areas, especially political, as well as economic, trade and cultural cooperation.

Article 3

The consultations under the present Memorandum of Understanding will be held, as appropriate, alternately in Belgrade and Malabo, at the level of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs or senior officials of the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs.

The level, dates, venue and agenda of consultations will be agreed through diplomatic channels, at the initiative of either Party.

Article 4

Diplomatic missions of the Parties in third countries, as well as their representatives participating in international conferences and meetings, will hold consultations on issues of common interest, as appropriate.

Article 5

During the consultations, delegations may decide to form working groups in order to discuss in detail certain issues of interest. The working groups will report on the results of their talks to the competent authorities for their consideration.

Article 6

The provisions of this Memorandum of Understanding will not affect any other treaty or agreement to which either Party is a contracting party.

Article 7

This Memorandum of Understanding will enter into force on the day of its signature, and will be valid for three years. It will be automatically renewed for the same period unless it is terminated by either Party, by giving written notification of the termination three months in advance.

The Memorandum is done in two original copies, in the Serbian, Spanish and English language, all texts being equally authentic. In case of divergence in interpretation, the English text shall prevail.
