MEMORANDUM
OF UNDERSTANDING ON BILATERAL CONSULTATIONS BETWEEN THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA AND THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF BANGLADESH

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh hereinafter referred to as the "Signatories" and separately as a "Signatory".

Desiring to develop and strengthen the traditional relations of friendship and mutual advantageous cooperation and further enhance the friendly relations between the two countries and to increase bilateral cooperation in mutually agreed fields;

Guided by the principles of independence, sovereign equality, non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries and mutual assistance in agreed fields;

Desirous of continuing their cooperation in order to promote international peace and security, peaceful settlement of disputes, democratization of international relations and upholding human rights and dignity;

Conscious of the need to broaden exchange of views on bilateral cooperation and on regional and international issues of mutual interest;

Have agreed as follows:

ARTICLE I

i. The signatories will conduct bilateral consultations annually or at any time mutually convenient to both signatories to review their bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest where appropriate.

ii. The Consultations will be carried out alternatively in Belgrade and Dhaka. The consultations may also take place in a third country on the occasion of an international conference or meeting participated by both signatories. During such an international conference or meeting, the signatories will also seek the possibilities of cooperation on issues of common interest for the two countries.

ARTICLE II

The Delegations, conducting political consultations, will be presided over by State Secretary, Serbia and Foreign Secretaries/Secretary, Bangladesh, or other high-ranking officials of both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

ARTICLE III

The agenda, date and venue of the consultations as well as the composition of the delegations will be agreed upon by the signatories by mutual consent through diplomatic channels. Both signatories may, by mutual consent and in case so required, establish experts and working groups for the consideration of specific issues.

ARTICLE IV

The Signatories will bear their respective expenses for participation in the meetings, including round trip transportation to the meeting place and accommodations, and the host Signatory will provide the necessary office for holding the consultations.

ARTICLE V

At the consultation meetings, the signatories will review and evaluate the developments in the political, economic, security, consular, cultural, technological and scientific areas of bilateral relations and other areas of common interest and an exchange of views to further enhance the relations will be held. The signatories will exchange views on international and regional issues and developments of common concern and when necessary, discuss bilateral cooperation in regional or international matters. Other matters of mutual interest agreed upon by the signatories may be discussed at the time of Consultations.

ARTICLE VI

The contents and conclusion of the consultations will not be made public unless otherwise agreed by both signatories.

ARTICLE VII

This Memorandum of Understanding will come into effect on the date of the signature and this will remain in effect for an indefinite period unless one of the signatories officially notify the other of its desire to suspend or terminate this Memorandum of Understanding six (6) months prior to its intended date of expiration. Unless otherwise agreed upon by the signatories, its suspension or termination should not prejudice the completion of projects initiated under this Memorandum of Understanding.

Any amendment or revision of the text of this Memorandum of Understanding will be done in writing by mutual consent of the signatories through diplomatic channels. The modification shall enter into force on the day of its signing and shall constitute an integral part of this Memorandum of Understanding.
