MEMORANDUM

OF UNDERSTANDING IN THE FIELD OF SPORTS BETWEEN THE MINISTRY OF YOUTH AND SPORTS OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA AND THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SPORTS, PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND RECREACTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF CUBA

The Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia and the National Institute for Sports, Physical Education and Recreation of the Republic of Cuba (hereinafter referred to as the "Parties"),

Encouraged by the desire to promote bilateral relations in the field of physical education and sport in order to strengthen mutual cooperation and understanding between sport organizations, based on friendly relations between the two countries,

Have agreed as follows:

Article 1

The Parties hereby express their will to establish sport cooperation within the framework of their respective powers and competence, by fostering as a priority the exchange of expertise in:

- Institutional cooperation.

- The field of science and technology applied to sport.

- Sport medicine.

- The fight against negative phenomena in sports.

- The organization of sport events.

- The training of sport specialist.

- Development of children’s and youth sport, citizen’ participation in sport through development and improvement of sport recreation, development and improvement of top sport.

- Sport infrastructure.

- Sport tourism.

- Engagement of sportsmen.

- Sport sponsorship.

- Sport for all.

Article 2

In this spirit of cooperation the Parties hereby agree:

1. To collect information and exchange points of view in the field of sports through consultations on questions of mutual interest.

2. To provide information on the experience obtained in the provision of sports facilities, planning and building of sports installations.

3. To exchange information, through periodical and other publications, related to sports issues of common interest.

4. To provide information on seminars, congresses and other meetings in the field of sports that may be held in each country.

5. To support activities related with sport for all, municipal sports and channel the performance of these activities through the competent authorities.

6. To support the interchange of activities through the various national sports organizations.

Article 3

Both Parties foresee the following forms of sport cooperation:

1. Exchanges of specialist and experts with the purpose of mutual training and interchange of expertise.

2. Participation in courses, seminars, symposia and congresses in the field of sports organized in each country in those specialties, which are of common interest.

3. Collaboration in the training of personnel for technical, professional and administrative functions in sports areas.

4. Participation of sport delegations from either country at sport events organized in the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Cuba, respectively.

For the specific programs that involve the exchange of specialists and experts for technical advice the Cuban side will be represented by Cubadeportes S.A.

Article 4

The Parties will exchange visits in order to strengthen cooperation in the field of sports tourism by inviting the representatives of national institutions from two countries to be present at sport manifestations and competitions organized by each of the countries with the aim to exchange experience in the field of sports tourism and to enhance development of the sector for sports tourism in two countries.

Article 5

For the purpose of carrying out the cooperative exchange activities foreseen under the present Memorandum, the following terms and conditions will be generally applicable:

- Sending Party will bear the costs of international transport between countries,

- Hosting Party will bear the costs of accommodation, board, local transport and any emergency medical services that may be envisaged within the visit.

- Depending on the availability of budget resources of both countries, Parties may agree to arrange financial terms and conditions in different way.

Article 6

The Parties shall encourage cooperation in the field of sport policy within international organization and institutions for the sake of the exchange of information and implementation of joint projects.

Article 7

The present Memorandum is hereby established for the term of five years to be counted from the date on which it signed and it will be automatically extended for similar periods unless either of the Party expresses, three months prior to the date of its termination, an interest in a new memorandum on different terms and conditions or unless either Party expresses its intention in writing to the other Party to terminate this Memorandum, six months prior to the date of its expiry.

The termination of this Memorandum will not affect the validity of any ongoing activity under the Memorandum until the completion of such activity, unless agreed otherwise.

Article 8

The present Memorandum will be amended upon mutual consent of the Parties. Such changes will be made in writing. Any amendment will enter into force on the date on which the Parties agree mutually and will be an integral part of this Memorandum.

Article 9

Any disputes arising out of the interpretation or implementation of this Memorandum shall be settled by consultation between both countries through diplomatic channels.

Signed in Belgrade, on August 29 th, 2022, in two (2) originals in Serbian, Spanish and English language, all texts being equally authentic. In case of any inconsistency, the English text shall prevail.
