MEMORANDUM
OF UNDERSTANDING ON COOPERATION IN FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL AND VOLLEYBALL BETWEEN THE MINISTRY OF SPORTS OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA AND THE GENERAL ADMINISTRATION OF SPORT OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA

On the basis of the important consensus reached by the two Heads of State, with a view to increasing exchanges and cooperation in football, basketball and volleyball and consolidating the iron-clad friendship between the two countries,

In accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of sports between the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia and the General Administration of Sport of the People’s Republic of China, signed in Belgrade and Beijing on February 2, 2021, the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Serbia and the General Administration of Sport of the People’s Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as "the Parties") have reached the following understanding:

ARTICLE I

The Parties agree that the conclusion of this Memorandum of Understanding will contribute to the sport cooperation and traditional friendship between the two countries. The Parties shall endeavor to develop cooperation in the principle of mutual respect, mutual benefit and win-win progress.

ARTICLE II

The Parties shall encourage their national federations to build stronger ties, and maintain good communication and coordination in international football, basketball and volleyball affairs.

ARTICLE III

The Parties shall support more exchanges between their national teams of all age groups in such forms as joint training and friendly matches. This will enable athletes in both countries to improve their skills and performance through mutual learning.

ARTICLE IV

The Parties shall encourage more exchanges between their clubs of football, basketball and volleyball. Athletes and coaches shall be encouraged to participate in professional leagues in each other’s country, in an effort to promote the growth of leagues in both countries.

ARTICLE V

The Parties shall support exchanges and cooperation in the training of young athletes and the cultivation of young talents. This will help the Parties to identify and cultivate young talents with great potential for sport, and contribute to the mutual understanding and friendship between young people in Serbia and China.

ARTICLE VI

The Parties shall encourage the exchange of visits and the organization of training courses and seminars for athletes, coaches, referees, technical officials and administrative personnel, in an effort to improve the skills and overall capability of those working in the field of football, basketball and volleyball.

ARTICLE VII

The Parties shall encourage the sharing of experience and good practice as well as the transfer of knowledge and information, on scientific research, medical rehabilitation, promotion programs, sports industry and governance models in the field of football, basketball and volleyball.

ARTICLE VIII

The Parties shall set up a working mechanism in which regular meetings are held to discuss the implementation of cooperation projects within the framework of this Memorandum of Understanding. Financial terms and other details shall be finalized through consultation between relevant organizations of the two Parties.

ARTICLE IX

The present Memorandum of Understanding may be amended upon mutual written consent of the Parties. Any amendment shall enter into force on the date on which the Parties mutually agree and shall be an integral part of this Memorandum of Understanding.

ARTICLE X

Any dispute arising out of the interpretation or implementation of this Memorandum of Understanding shall be settled amicably, by consultations through the diplomatic channels.

ARTICLE XI

This Memorandum of Understanding shall come into effect on the date of signing and be valid for a period of four years. The terms of this Memorandum of Understanding shall be extended automatically once for the same period unless either Party sends a written notice to the other Party, six months prior to the expiry of this Memorandum of Understanding, expressing its intention to terminate it.

This Memorandum of Understanding is signed on 13 August 2024 in Belgrade, in two original copies in Serbian, Chinese and English languages, all texts being equally authentic.

In the event of any difference in the interpretation of this Memorandum of Understanding, the English text shall prevail.
